GUERNSEY ASSISTANCE IN SUCCESSFUL PROSECUTION OF 1MDB/ROGER NG RECOGNISED BY US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

As the competent authority for mutual legal assistance, HM Procureur and her team are pleased to have assisted in the investigation relating to Roger Ng, who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a serious bribery and money laundering scheme involving the bribery of high-level foreign officials in Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates and the theft of billions of dollars meant to benefit the Malaysian people. HM Procureur said "We are pleased to have recently been able to assist the US Department of Justice investigation into Roger Ng's role in a multibillion-dollar bribery and money laundering scheme involving Malaysia's state-owned investment and development fund. As with other requests for mutual legal assistance which we receive, we stand ready with other competent authorities around the world to assist in the investigation of corporate corruption and to ensure that those who perpetrate complex criminal schemes for profit are held accountable for their crimes."
